Sunday afternoon
With every small disaster I’ll let the waters still Take me away to some place real
{Gabrielle Aplin: Home}
Listening to Gabrielle Aplin and The Jezabels. Thinking of long walks in winter sunshine. Reading Game of Thrones and Wolf Hall- again {to avoid buying the sequel just yet when I have so many books on the go!). Where does the time go on quiet Sunday afternoons?!

Little bits of prettiness
Sometimes a good walk with music and something so simple as a your favourite perfume, is all you need to summon some Friday energy.
Happy friday.

Hey there lovely weekends
It's nice to get out of the city, but luckily the city also has some nice things to offer. This summer the free events at Silo Park have been lovely- markets, night cinemas and music sessions. Seeing The Phoenix Foundation has been one of my favourite gigs so far, they are always great- and this Taika Waititi video is awesome.
♥ Weekend walking to swim playlist now includes The Phoenix Foundation Happy Ending and my newest cd discovery Ben Howard ♥

The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra, I ♥ you
Filed under "things New Zealand has done to me" part......, is a great love of the ukulele. I'm a proud uke-owner, if not an accomplished player, and one of the great reasons for this was some Kiwi friends introducing me to the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra. They are all kinds of awesome. One live gig is all it takes to get you hooked. Check this and this out. Last night we got to see them live again, as their I Love You EP tour hit town and they were as brilliant as ever. It was also fun to see the people next me go from novices to asking when they were playing next. I forgot to take a 'proper' camera, hence the wobbly pictures, but it's the type of gig where you're too busy bopping along to care. Now I just need to practise the uke myself...

Daydreamer....
Warm, humid, grey, squelchy/misty....that's what the weather this week has been like. If only I could just swim in the sea and sit around drinking tea, it would be perfect!
Listening to my new favourite song from the brilliant Boy & Bear.

Sunday afternoon {2 left to Christmas!}
Food, festivities and friends..Christmas happiness :)
I also, as of this morning, have a pretty extensive festive playlist. Two weeks to go until Christmas holidays!
Here are my top 5 holiday songs at the moment:
- Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, She & Him
- Merry Christmas Baby, Otis Redding
- Sleigh Ride, The Ronettes
- Warm This Winter, Gabriella Climi
- Merry Christmas Everyone, Shakin' Stevens -save the cheesiest 'till last...and for some reason the video for this cracks me up!
I would also highly recommend the gorgeous winter playlist on Andrew & Carissa's blog, see the post here. It is utterly lovely.

The lost art of printing out photos
...I realised I have all these photos from my travels and two years of overseas life....all on my computer. Even all the film pictures are scanned to disc and saved. It seemed a shame- I always used to get photos printed- so I have been on a mission to print out some pictures every now and again and enjoy the memories.
Listening to The Grates.

Next steps
I never seem sure of where my path is going to...but that's not always a bad thing... (and somehow it always leads to the sea! Good job I am living on an island, in a seaside city :))

Music + Pictures
Spring = gorgeous flowers and blossoms all around, so I bought some macro filters to play around with. These were some experimental shots from a few weekends ago. They seem to sum up this afternoon as well- writing down ideas, drinking coffee, marking 40+ essays, and listening to Bon Iver. I was listening to this song in particular when I thought of them and started on some new ideas.
